My experience with Maguire Jackson during my house move was extremely disappointing. The level of management, communication, and basic duty of care fell far below what any tenant should expect. I was pushed into accepting a property that was nowhere near ready to be lived in. When I received the keys, the flat was in a poor and unacceptable condition, mould, water ingress in the bedroom beside multiple other issues that should have been addressed long before a tenant was allowed to move in. The state of the property was, in my view, inhabitable, and it was clear that proper checks, questionable cleaning standards, and maintenance had not been carried out. Throughout the process, the agency’s handling of my concerns was equally poor. Communication was inconsistent, dismissive at times, and lacked any sense of responsibility or urgency. Instead of supporting me through what was already a stressful move, I felt pressured, and left to deal with problems that were entirely within their control. Although the situation was eventually resolved after exercising my right to unwind, no tenant should have to go through this. I am sharing this review so others are aware of the level of service I received and can make informed decisions before working with this agency. FAO Owner: Thank you for your response. However, I explicitly requested that my complaint be formally logged, reviewed by management, and that I be provided with a written outcome and details of any corrective actions to prevent the same from happening again. This was not done. When I followed up, I was provided with incorrect and misleading information, which further added to my concerns about how my complaint was handled. Given that I had already made multiple attempts to resolve this directly, it is now inappropriate to ask me to contact you again. The opportunity to address this properly was during the formal complaints process, which was not followed.

Nancy at McGuire Jackson was absolutely fantastic from day one. I called initially about one specific property, but she took the time to listen carefully to all my requirements and then went away and put together a brilliant list of lovely properties that perfectly matched what I was looking for. Most agents I spoke to in Birmingham just arrange a viewing for the one flat you rang about and never bother to highlight anything else from their portfolio. Nancy was completely different. She showed me the most properties of any agent I worked with and really tried to make the most of our time together. She kindly drove me around Birmingham in the company car, which I really appreciated because I don’t have a car. Other agents refused to do this, so I was left running around on buses and sweating between viewings. Nancy carefully planned the route and order of the properties so we could see everything efficiently. The quality of the properties McGuire Jackson have on their books really stood out. What made the biggest difference was how Nancy made me feel. She was super responsive, friendly and positive right from the start. She made me feel comfortable and welcome, and it honestly felt more like spending half a day looking at flats with a friend than dealing with a corporate agent. She never rushed me or put any pressure on me, even though I took up a lot of her time. She was genuinely passionate about her job and clearly cared about finding me the right place. She also gave me loads of invaluable advice and guidance about the Birmingham property market in general. Buying in a city you’ve never lived in is daunting, and Nancy helped me avoid some huge mistakes. She was always open to honest feedback on the properties and I never felt she was doing a hard sell. She just wanted to make sure I ended up with the right home for me. Even though she clearly has a very stressful and demanding schedule, she never showed any stress or pressure. She stayed relaxed and chilled the whole time, which put me completely at ease. I had a lot of terrible experiences with other agents in Birmingham, but Nancy was a real breath of fresh air. In a buyers’ market with thousands of very similar flats available, the whole experience matters just as much as the property itself. Most agents seem to treat customers like a number and think it doesn’t matter if they treat us poorly because another buyer will come along soon. Nancy went above and beyond and it was very much appreciated. Whilst I didn’t proceed with McGuire Jackson this time because I found my dream property elsewhere, I will definitely be back to Nancy and her agency for my next purchase and I will be recommending them to others. Please pass on my sincere thanks and appreciation to her.
